In early 2006, Lori and Nicole, best friends, decided that they were bored with
the Palm Beach County social scene. Being single, “30 Something”, professional
and fun, they wanted to surround themselves with the same types of quality
people. The girls brainstormed and came up with the idea of starting a young
professionals group which would host monthly happy hours at local venues.
Membership would be free and members would only pay for the events they wanted
to attend.
But the question remained, how were they going to attract people to join the
group and attend the events? Lori and Nicole decided to plan a happy hour and
send an evite invitation to all their friends, in hopes that those friends would
pass it on to other friends. This process would hopefully boost the size of the
group, dramatically.
Additionally, Lori and Nicole felt that it was important to give back to the
community. Both girls love kids, so they felt that finding a charity that helped
children would be the perfect fit. Donating proceeds from events held would be a
great way to give back to those less fortunate and provide a greater incentive
for individuals to join the group. After sharing plans with Rebecca Coleman, the Society Editor of the Boca Raton
News, Rebecca played matchmaker and introduced Lori and Nicole to Natalie Cwick,
the Executive Director of KIND, a Boca Raton based charitable organization. The
meeting of the three ladies sparked not only a friendship but a partnership that
has proven to be a smashing success. |
